Sascha Vitzthum - MashUp Project

The Mashup of IS jobs started in the summer of 2007 as a tool to provide an overview of current job openings for IS faculty. In the short time span, several services have emerged that aid in the creation of Map mashups and the redistribution of content.

The first version of the map used Google’s myMaps which allowed for manual data entry and subsequent map display. However, the inflexibility of the data management and the laborious data entry soon deemed this version infeasible.

The second version utilized the capabilities of Yahoo Pipes to create a low maintenance, yet up to date MashUp. Instead of manual data entry, this version uses geoRSS feeds to display content as they are published.

Using Google’s feedburner, the current version allows for RSS consumption and redistribution of the content. Subscribe to RSS feed

Besides the content, the project showcases how powerful the engines of Web 2.0 have become. If you need help integrating your own data into a Map MashUp, feel free to contact me.
