Education: B.A. with Distinction, Political Science (Highest Honors), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003); M.A., Political Science, Emory University (2008).

Ph.D. Expected Date of Completion: August 2012.

Specialization: Judicial behavior and politics, public policy processes, quantitative methods, and formal theory.

Dissertation: Communication Through Dissent: The Evolving Uses of Dissent in American Courts

Current research projects examine the effect of opinion quality on the treatment of precedent by appellate courts; learning and regime change in the U.S. Courts of Appeals; the impact of international legal institutions on domestic judicial behavior; and the ABA ratings of federal judicial nominees.
