Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet: STEPHEN WILSON, TROMBONE

 

 

 

Stephen is in his seventeenth season as the second trombone of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra,. His previous positions include the Singapore Symphony, the Grant Park (Chicago) Symphony and the Chicago Festival Orchestra.

Born in Chicago, Stephen started playing the trombone at the age of twelve, and by the age of seventeen he began studies with Edward Kleinhammer, CSO bass trombonist. During this time Stephen was a featured soloist with several orchestras in the Chicago area as well as presenting numerous solo recitals.

Along with his extensive symphonic, solo, and chamber appearances, Stephen teaches at Morris Brown College and Clarke Atlanta. He also serves as Minority Liaison for the Atlanta Brass Society, and on numerous committees governing the A.S.O. This year, his ASO trombone chair has been endowed by Jerry Drummond, chair of the ASO board.
