Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Chris began his first season as Principal Trumpet of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2001. He came to the Atlanta Symphony after three years as Associate Principal Trumpet of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Chris received his Bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1997 under the trumpet instruction of professors Charles Geyer and Barbara Butler. Prior to joining The Philadelphia Orchestra in October 1997, he was also offered the Principal Trumpet position with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been an Affiliate Professor of Trumpet at Temple University in Philadelphia, and gives master classes at music conservatories and colleges around the nation, including the Manhattan School of Music. Chris has also recently completed a very successful tour of Japan with the Philadelphia Brass Ensemble, a brass quintet comprised mainly of Principals from The Philadelphia Orchestra. As Principal
Trumpet with the Atlanta Symphony under the direction of Yoel Levi, Chris
may be heard on Telarc Records' recording of Mahler's First and Tenth
Symphonies, and on Albany Records with the Albany Symphony.
