The 1996 Strike: Concerts by Members of the ASOPA


September 29- Piedmont Park, part of the Arts Festival of Atlanta- John Head Conducting. Program included Beethoven V, Tchaikovsky IV, marches. 2500 in the audience.

October 12- Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, Harry Kruger, Conducting. "Music from Bach to Mozart" - Bach 3rd Brandenburg, Vivaldi 5th Cello Concerto, Mozart Flute & Harp Concerto, Telemann Concerto for 3 Trumpets, Mozart Symphony #40 in G minor. Suggested donation: $10. NOTE: This concert was sold out.

October 17- Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory University- "A Chamber Music Extravaganza" featuring the Atlanta Chamber Players, Georgian Chamber Players, Atlanta Winds, Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet and others. Free

October 27- Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, Halloween Concert, Sid Rothstein, Conductor.

November 10- there will be a Rally and March by young People entitled "May the Students be the Peacemakers" from 4 until 5 PM, with student performances immediately afterward at Colony Square. The march begins at 17th Street between Peachtree and West Peachtree. Please bring signs with positive messages, showing love for the symphony, complete with your city, county, etc. clearly written on the poster. In addition, each participant is asked to bring a 3X5 handwritten pledge form indicating "I (name, address, phone) pledge $1 to the ASO as soon as the Orchestra is again playing in Symphony Hall." At the end of the "March for Music" , we will deposit pledge forms in boxes provided.

December 16 All-Star Brass Solidarity Concert- 8:00 Peachtree Christian Church. $10 admission. Brass players from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony.

There are also numerous chamber music appearances daily.
