Upgrading Individual Workstations for Unicorn 99.4

EUCLID's software will be upgraded to Unicorn 99.4 on Sunday, May 21. Emory participated in the pre-release testing of this software release, which introduces some new features and fixes some old problems. EUCLID will be unavailable most of the day on May 21, while Bernardo and I work on the upgrade. Following the upgrade, staff who use Sirsi's WorkFlows software MUST upgrade to the new version before doing any work on EUCLID. No software changes are required for users of the character user interface.

The following steps are MANDATORY on Monday, May 22 for all staff who use WorkFlows. You must NOT do any work on EUCLID until you have successfully completed steps 1-4, plus step 5 if you use SmartPort.

If you are not comfortable performing the following steps yourself, please contact the local support person in your library or department.

1. Start WorkFlows. If the Configuration window does not automatically display when your start WorkFlows (and before you login), then login, and go to the Preference menu, and choose Configuration... Then check the "Show this window on next startup" box, and click OK.

2. Go to the Command menu and choose All wizards, then choose UPDATE. The Update wizard transfers a large update program from EUCLID to your desktop computer. When it finishes, quit WorkFlows.

3. When you start WorkFlows again, an updater program should run automatically the next time you start WorkFlows. If the updater does not start, you will need to go to Program Files\Sirsi\WorkFlows and run the program upd_wf.exe manually. When it finishes, there will be a new program, named wf990401.exe in your WorkFlows folder.

4. Start WorkFlows again. In the Configuration window, there is a new choice "Port". Enter the number 1 as the port number. Then login to WorkFlows/EUCLID as usual. If you do not see a port number, in the Configuration window, you are not running the updated version of he WorkFlows software.

The next step is for SmartPort Users Only:

5. Go to the Preference menu and choose Cataloging. The Match points need to be changed in Unicorn 99.4, which introduces a new feature for updating control numbers of existing records.

For OCLC transfers the match points should be: olis/o
For RLIN transfers the match points should be: rlis/r
For all other transfers the match points should be: lis/l
