How to Place a Recall or Cat_Rush Request in WorkFlows
11/17/99

NOTE: Circulation staff suggest using WebCat as your first choice for placing requests for library materials. Requesting through WebCat is self-explanatory and has the least possibility for error. If you would prefer to place requests from WorkFlows, please follow these directions carefully. Errors in placing requests can result in problems with your EUCLID borrowing record.

  1. Log in to WorkFlows.
  2. Click on Home (red house) icon in WorkFlows (top) toolbar.
  3. Click on Library Catalog icon.
  4. Look up desired item in catalog (any search type is ok).
  5. Click on check box of desired item.
  6. Click on View (magnifying glass) icon on Find Item toolbar.
  7. Selection box should appear with line number of desired item.Click the OK button.
  8. When the desired record appears on screen, click on Create Request (megaphone) icon located on WorkFlows toolbar.
  9. Create Request dialog box will appear. To enter request ID: and type:, click on the arrows next to each field and drop-down menus should appear. Set request ID: and type: as follows:
  1. The request ID: menu has only one choice: AUTO. Always set request ID: for AUTO; don't enter anything else here. Click on AUTO to highlight it; AUTO should now appear in the request ID: field.
  2. The type: menu has a variety of choices. If you are requesting a book that is checked out by someone else, then type: should be RECALL. If you are requesting a book that is still In-Process or On Order or a book that has just been catalogued, then type: should be CAT_RUSH. Click on your choice to highlight it and it should appear in the type: field.
  3. When both request ID: and type: are selected, click the OK button.
  1. Input dialog box should appear (assuming you are not using a Circulation login). Type update into the Input override operator field and click the OK button.
  2. Create Request Request Info screen should appear, with information about the item carrying over from the bib record. In the user ID: field, enter the Social Security number (= EUCLID ID number) of the person that the request is for. Type the number without dashes or spaces. Click the OK button.
  3. Create Request Basic Info screen should appear. Scroll down to LIBRARY field. Type GENERAL or WOODRUFF.
  4. If you wish to notify Circulation staff about the cataloging date (let them know if the book has just been cataloged, so they will know it's on its way to Circulation and not missing from the stacks) or provide any other information, tab to the NOTE: field and type in your note.
  5. When all information has been entered, click the OK button, and then the CLOSE button. Your request has been placed and you will be returned to the bib record for the item you requested.
