Keyword Mapping for Function Keys in 99.4

If you wish to work with some of the functions from previous versions of WorkFlows that
are no longer available in the Unicorn 99.4 toolbars (such as Display1 and Display2), you
have the option of mapping these functions to your F-keys. These functions are in fact
already mapped to your F-keys; these instructions will tell you how to find out in one
glance what keywords (Display1 Item, etc.) are currently mapped to your F-Keys, and how to
personalize your F-keys to your own style of working.
The default F-key mapping in 99.4 seems to vary with different logins. All options
should be available for remapping regardless of the defaults for your login. Examples
given are for the genacqsu login used by this writer.
Separate documentation will be available soon about toolbar mapping.
To Work With the Keyword Map:
- Click on the Preference menu in the menu bar.
- Click Function Keys. This will take you to the Setup Function Keys window.
- Choose Keyword Mapping by clicking the adjacent button. Choose what you want to do next
by clicking either the Display button (takes you to a grayed-out screen displaying which
functions are currently mapped to your F-keys) or the Change button (takes you to the
active version of the same window with option menus for each F-key). Either way the next
window will be the Setup Function Keys Map window.
- If you chose Display in step 3, you can look at the screen and see what your current
Keyword Map looks like. You can't print this from within EUCLID so you may want to jot
down the information for the F-keys and key combinations you're most interested in using.
Clicking either OK or Cancel from here will close the window and return you to wherever
you started from.
- If you chose Change in step 3, you can remap the F-keys to suit your preferences. For
example, the default mapping for F1 and F2 in the genacqsu login is Browse and Display1.
You could remap F1 and F2 to function as Display1 and Display 2, placing these functions
side by side and eliminating the shift-key stroke for F2. You can reconstruct a previous
map or create a brand new one.
- Save your changes by clicking OK, or restore the original map by clicking Cancel. Either
option will close the window and return you to wherever you started from.
