"Lectio Divina (C. sapidus)" Oil on canvas, 8"x10" wide. Artist Commentary: Blue crabs (Callinectes sapidus) have always intrigued me. They are at once among the ugliest and the most lovely of sea creatures. Their knobby, multi-jointed looks belie a grace in the water that is astounding. The reference "Lectio Divina" is to the sort of spiritual reading done by monastics. These are readings other than scripture, but that support and enlighten the reader to the divine grace of God.
