"Zebra Lionfish" Oil on wood, 32"x32" wide. Artist Commentary: Zebra lionfish (Dendrochirus zebra) are quite poisonous tropical members of the scorpionfish family. They are prized as aquarium specimens for their striking appearance and grace in the water, and released specimens have been found off the coast of the southeastern United States. The Zebra Lionfish is widely distributed throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific. In Australia it is found from Shark Bay, Western Australia, around the tropical north, and south to Sydney, New South Wales.
