"Interior Castle (Cambarus cymatilis)" Oil on canvas, 8"x10" wide. Artist Commentary: This unusual blue crayfish was painted for the Nature Conservancy. The species in particular is found in northwestern Georgia, and has vivide cobalt blue markings. Very few photos of the species exist, so I was forced to develop the painting based primarily on descriptions. "Interior Castle" references the work by Teresa of Avila, and I found that a fitting description of this multi-segmented arthropod.
