"Woody End" Oil on canvas, 13"x21" wide. Artist Commentary: I arose early on Saturday and strolled beneath a star-strewn sky toward the Woody End. I left the lane and entered among the trees as predawn breezes bustled. On a grassy knoll I set my easel, and with autumn hues of maple, birch, and rowan emerging from the morning mists, a rider in black ascended the ridge before me. He hunched upon his horse, convulsing queerly as the light quickened, and then he descended into the darkened vale below. Reassured, the robins resumed their chorus, and the sunlight chased away all trace of the uncanny creature.
