The skies beyond the sentinel cliffs were stormy, but the cadmiums and crimsons of the setting sun streamed through the breach. Emblazoned in the light, an elven sloop rode roiling waves as she approached the ancient havens. And high above, Eärendil sailed the skies; His crystalline light pierced scudding clouds as evening fell....
