"Dawn at Lake-town" Oil on canvas, 13"x21" wide. Artist Commentary: I spent Monday morning at the edge of Long Lake. I was south of the studded span that tethers town to shore, with all of Esgaroth silhouetted before me by a quickening sky. Lamps spanned the calm waters and dappled distant dwellings; and as dawn approached, Bilbo bustled onto the beach and stood in wonder as purple, pink, and pearlescent hues heralded the coming of daybreak.
