Artist Commentary: Henneth Annûn, also called the "Window of the Sunset", or "Window on the West" was a hidden cave near the south road from the Black Gate of Mordor. Here the Ithilien rangers were based, and the cave, the waterfall that hid it, and the deep pool beneath it were constantly guarded against discovery by the agents of Sauron.
