"Lothlorien " Oil on canvas, 21"x13" wide. Artist Commentary: Lothlórien was the "City in the Trees", the home of the Galadhrim, or Silvan elves. It stood at the juncture of the rivers Celebrant and Anduin on the eastern side of the Misty Mountains. In this painting of Lothlorien, I wanted to explore an architecture that would evoke the grace and agelessness of the Firstborn, and settled, as a result, on a Gothic style with spires and intricately carved windows. We are looking toward the west as the sun sets over the Misty Mountains, and Eärendil shines brightly as the day fades.
