Artist Commentary: The final ascent of Frodo and Sam to the forges of Mt. Doom is at once the most distressing and the most inspiring of all of the events in The Lord of the Rings. In this rendering, I'm again attempting to capture the simple helping of one soul by another as they both strive to reach a goal that has long been thought impossible to attain.
