Artist Commentary: Beorn is a shape changer who can appear as a great bear. But, he is most often shown as an enormous man who tends bees and keeps animals who serve him. He is known as a "berserker", a mythological shape-changing creature of northern legend, and he helps to defeat the orcs and wargs in the "Battle of Five Armies" in the Hobbit.
