The White Tree
"The White Tree of Gondor"
Oil on canvas, 16"x10" wide.

Artist Commentary: At the end of the Lord of the Rings, a sapling is found by Aragorn with Gandalf's aid, on the snow-filled slopes of Mindolluin above the city of Minas Tirith. This is a descendant of Nimloth, the white tree of Numenor, which itself descended from Galathilion of Tirion on Tuna. The sapling was planted once again in the Minas Tirith courtyard, and grew to be a marvel and a sign of the flourishing of the Good with the return of the king.
