Artist Commentary: Alqualondë was the "Haven of the Swans" on the coast of the blessed lands of the west. It was here that the fabled kinslayings occurred in the First Age. But, aside from that great tragedy, the haven was known as a beautiful refuge for ships, whose entryway was carved from solid rock that opened into the western seas.
