"The Choices of Master Gandalf" Oil on canvas, 10"x16" wide. Artist Commentary: Gandalf always appears to be a decisive and active figure, rarely showing the deep thought and intellect that reside behind the mask of the old bearded face. Yet, it occured to me that he would have had many opportunities in the meditative atmosphere of Rivendell to contemplate his actions during the long struggles with Sauron. This moment of reflection is what I sought to depict in this image.
