Armenelos the Golden
"Armenelos the Golden"
Oil on canvas, 14"x11" wide.

Artist Commentary: Armenelos was the capital city of Númenor and was the site of the temple created by Sauron to corrupt the hearts of the Númenoreans. That temple belched the smoke of sacrifices to Morgoth in the corrupted late days of that kingdom. In this image, I've superimposed Armenelos, which was inland, with Romenna, which was on the coast. The resulting image is not geographically accurate, but is meant to capture the sense of power and foreboding of the waning days of Númenor.
