Artist Commentary: This fairy tale image depicts a young woman sitting on a dishevelled bed or pallet. High above her soars the arches of a cathedral, and directly over her is a dark figure, as of a gargoyle. She is either just rising or just planning to rest; a Rosary is beside her on the rumpled sheets. Who this woman is and what her plight might be, I leave to the viewer....
