Artist Commentary: In this fairy tale image, we see a grotesque image, a gargoyle-like creature, seemingly gazing down at the street beneath him. It it dark, and a young girl is standing below, looking at the creature on the building-side. A strange tree twists around the corner of the building below, and a comet seems to hang in the sky over all. Is the girl dreaming? Is the gargoyle just a statue, or is it real? And why entitled "prom night"? All these must be answered by the viewer.
