The City of God
"The City of God"
Oil on canvas, 16"x10" wide.

Artist Commentary: The title is taken, with respect, from St. Augustine. The dragon, despite many attempts to soften its image, is always at best a deeply ambiguous figure, and traditionally is seen as purely evil. Thus, this image attempts to show the constant seige of the good by the evil. It does not presuppose the outcome of this particular battle, but ultimately, evil can never prevail.
