"Belle Glades Dragon" Oil on wood, 24"x32" wide. Artist Commentary: This oil on wood wildlife silhouette depicts a Belle Glades dragon at rest. From the "Doorway Dragons" Archives: This adult Belle Glades (a.k.a. "Sawgrass") Dragon is feisty and enjoys a good romp. Sawgrass Dragons are not the most aggressive species; they herald from the Florida Everglades where there is plenty of food and where their only competition for it are alligators and the occasional Florida crocodile, both distant cousins. Nevertheless, Belle Glades are beautiful dragons with the crocodilian snout typical of southern species. And, they are exceptionally bright and curious about their environment. Care and Feeding - Will forage on its own if kept in a home with a pet door or where access is allowed to the outdoors regularly. If kept indoors for extended periods, can be fed on nearly anything...access to food dish of the family dog or cat is sufficient. |
