Doorway Dragons, Ltd. has served the international
community for some 130 years. During this time, we have maintained a sterling reputation for placing
only the most mild mannered dragons, griffins, and other creatures in the homes
and offices of our clients. And, with the notable
exception of the Chihuahua incident in 1928, there have been no reports
of serious damage caused by any of our adoptees. Nevertheless, it cannot be
too emphatically stated that magical creatures are not tame. Many
(e.g., dragons) have natures that preclude complete predictability. Prospective
owners of any magical creature would do well to consider the following
cautions related to their Doorway Dragon of choice.
Dragons
No dragon is 100% safe. Although Doorway Dragons, Ltd. only provide
dragons that have proven themselves well-mannered and nonaggressive,
all owners should maintain a healthy respect for the sharp claws and teeth of
all species. Some species do breathe fire, although the juveniles and young
adults we place usually are too young to do much damage in this regard. Dragons
do occasionally shed their skins, and this can be a nuisance as well as a
health hazard to those with asthma or other allergies; if in doubt, please
be tested for allergic reactions to Draconis species before adoption!
Griffins
Griffins are more predictable than dragons, but they still have incredibly sharp
claws and beaks. Griffins can cause damage to home furnishings and to mouldings
and wooden objects in home, as well as having a fascination with power cords.
Please consider "griffin-proofing" your home prior to adoption.

Unicorns
Unicorns are among our gentlest creatures. However, they often can grow large, and
any large animal in a small space can knock objects off of shelves. Unicorn horns
are also quite sharp and can do unintentional damage. Unicorns also need considerable
space for bedding down and can make quite a mess of a bedroom if not allowed out of
doors regularly.
Magical Wildlife
Although all of our wild creatures are unusual (e.g., many are able to read, and
some can help with household tasks), please remember that all of them are wild. Some
unexpected behavior can be expected from even the gentlest. If you want your reading
elephant to behave like a dog, you may wish to reconsider whether a Doorway Dragons
adoptee is for you!
