Who We Are

We are a research group funded by the National Institute of Health, Veterans Administration, foundations, and industry.
We perform research on the brain and neurobiological correlates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depression, anxiety disorders and dissociation.
Our mission is to understand how stress affects the brain and leads to mental disorders, and ways to translate this knowledge into new treatments.

We are currently looking for military personnel or individuals who served in the military sometime in the past five years to participate in a brain imaging study. For more information call Cory Inman at 404-712-9661 (cinman@emory.edu).

We are are now recruiting veterans returning from Iraq with symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
including sleep problems, startle reactions, problems concentrating, and anxiety, for a research study involving brain imaging before and after a stress reduction class.
If you have one of these symptoms you may be eligible.
Subjects are paid for their participation and all tests and treatments are free. For information call Dr. Afzal at 404 712 9568 or email nafzal@emory.edu.

We are now recruiting for a study of brain correlates of antidepressant response. Subjects receive brain scanning and free treatment for depression as well as payment for participation.
If you are depressed and not treated call Dr. Dent at 404 712 9570 or email mdent@emory.edu.
