Since uploading the photographs of my wire-to-steel wheel conversion on the Sprite, several people have asked how I installed the bumperettes on the rear valance. The bumperettes are from a Bugeye Sprite. They came with some of the mounting hardware, as shown in these two photos. Note that there is a long bracket that fits up under the Bugeye rear valance, and a small, hook-shaped bracket that holds the fat end of the bumperette to the rear valance.

I removed the Bugeye bottom bracket, then simply installed the bumperette onto the car using the spridget bumper mounting bracket original to the squarebody. The hook-shaped bracket connects the top of the spridget bumper mount to the bumperette. The photographs should be self-explanatory.

Here's a shot of the final product. Note that the bumperettes are upside-down compared to a Bugeye. I believe that this is the way that some of the very earliest Sprite Mark IIs came equipped.
