Major Professional Interests:  synthetic organic chemistry; new organometallic reagents and catalysts; new chemical transformations and synthetic strategies for biologically active compounds, including stereoselective synthesis of glyco-conjugates, polycyclic ethers, polycyclic alkaloids, and polyketides. 

Our research interests are focused on the premise that new chemical reactions must be discovered in order to achieve more highly efficient syntheses of bioactive organic compounds, such as the pharmacologically interesting target structures shown on this page. Many synthetically valuable transformations can be envisioned which have not yet been effectively reduced to practice. To this end we are inventing new reactions to solve these problems, with a particular emphasis on explorations in organometallic chemistry.
