Song LyricsThe lyrics directory contains files of song lyrics. Each file contains one song. There may also be historical or performance notes in the file, as well as alternate versions of the lyrics when warranted. The files are plain text (*.txt) files compatible with the PC "notepad" program. There is purposefully no default Web index page in the lyrics directory. If you visit the directory by clicking on the lyrics directory link, a detailed directory listing will be display. The Name, Last Modified and Size links at the top of the listing may be selected to sort the listing by those categories respectively. Clicking the same category link repeatedly toggles the sort order between ascending and descending. There are three indexes of the files in the lyrics directory:
Recent AdditionsThe new drectory contains recently submitted files that have yet to be checked into the repository. That process usually involves checking for duplications or alternate versions, inspecting the files for special (non-text) characters, and adding the songs to the indexes. Since that occurs only as time permits, unprocessed files are placed in the new drectory to make them available as soon as possible. Note that some new files may be in forms other than plain text, such as word processing documents. Song and Tune ListsThe lists directory contains set sheets and other lists that people have contributed. These are helpful for suggesting selections at gatherings or for helping to remember pieces that haven't been performed in a while. The files are single-column plain text files that can be formatted to suit individual situations. Links to Other ResourcesThere are obviously many places on the Web with information related to traditional and acoustic music. Here is a list of sites that are particularly helpful, interesting or comprehensive. SearchThe Google search function below has been placed here for future use. As of now, the music archive part of this site has apparently not yet been indexed by Google. |
