Max's Latest Adventures

May 7, 2002

This has been an exciting couple of weeks for Max. First, he went to new places -- we visited Charleston, SC for two days. Max was great in the car and the hotel and participated in some of the tours we took by adding his own "comments." We also took him to the zoo this past Sunday. Eric and I enjoyed the animals - Max enjoyed the blowing leaves and the small children who were running around, but I don't think we could get him to focus on one animal!!

As far as his continuing development --- He rolled over once - but never again. (He must have been in a particularly good position or something.) He does however go around the perimeter of his blanket by rolling over 1/2-3/4 of the way over. He also makes lots of noises now -- his particular favorite seems to be a gargle. He also has begun to grab onto things -- it's fun to see him grab (and try to manuver) his toys; I don't appreciate it as much when it's my necklace or earrings! In addition, he continues to teethe -- today he enjoyed a cold teething "fish" for the first time -- again he attempted to put it in his mouth himself, which led to a lot of drool and him biting his hand and the fish simultaneously. Finally (and best of all for
me), on Sunday night Max slept from 10:45 pm until 6 am. I congratulated him over and over and told him how proud I was of him, until I began to fear that he would associate getting up as something I was rewarding rather than sleeping through the night -- we'll see if this has any long-lasting reprecussions.

I have attached a lot of pictures - some in Charleston, some at the zoo, and some at home -- do not feel obligated to open them all!!!
