Welcome to the Maney Lab
We study the neuroendocrinology and neurogenetics of social behavior. Our research combines the study of free-living animals in their natural environments with that of laboratory - housed animals under controlled conditions.
In our research, we ask the following:
· How does the brain perceive and respond to environmental and social signals?
· What neuropeptides are important in these circuits, and why?
· How do hormones affect the perception of and response to social signals, and where do they act?
· What can we learn about the evolution of social behavior and its underlying mechanisms by comparing different species?
