Welcome

David V. Brewington is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at Emory University. His research and teaching interests are in religion and globalization, global analysis, human rights, theory, cultural sociology, social movements, and organizations.

His dissertation is an investigation of the role of religion in global social movements and international nongovernmental organizations in the field of human rights and social justice. His work is strongly influenced by the world society neo-institutionalism of John Meyer, John Boli, George Thomas, and Francisco Ramirez, as well as the globalization paradigm pioneered by Roland Robertson and his colleague, Frank Lechner.

Brewington's larger theoretical agenda involves understanding how institutions interact and change in the era of globalization, and how moral codes and scripts structure global change.

A detailed description of both his academic and professional background can be found in his Curriculum Vitae. (html, pdf)
