According to the scriptures, does Jesus Christ, right now, since his resurrection from the dead, have a God?
Jesus Christ himself answered this question shortly after his resurrection. In John 20 we have the record of Jesus' appearance to Mary after his resurrection.
John 20:11-17.
20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.
20:14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Jesus identified to Mary in no uncertain terms who he was about to ascend to: He was ascending to his Father and his God. But Jesus did more here; he clarified forever the relationship between his God and our God. According to Jesus Christ after his resurrection, they are one and the same. His Father is our Father, and his God is our God. Nothing could be clearer.
This statement is completely consistent with the way Jesus spoke of his God and his Father throughout his earthly ministry. In John 17:3, while alone in prayer, Jesus identified his Father as the only true God.
John 17:3.
17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
In saying this, Jesus excluded not only himself, but the Comforter as well from being God.
Let's look at one more scripture to confirm that Jesus Christ has a God today. The apostle Paul, writing by the spirit of God, testifies that Jesus Christ has a God today, and implies the same thing that Jesus stated clearly: that Jesus' God is the same as our God.
Ephesians 1:3
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Ephesians 1:15-17.
Ephesians 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Ephesians 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Under the Law of Moses, the testimony of two witnesses was to be accepted as true. We have here the testimony of Jesus Christ and the testimony of the apostle Paul that Jesus Christ, right now, after his resurrection, has a God, and that his God is the same as our God. The only question left is whether our theology agrees with the theology of Jesus and Paul.
