Appearances and Events

On Saturday January 16, I will deliver a talk entitled "Picturing People with Disabilities: Classical Portraiture as Reconstructive Narrative” as part of the the Disability and Music Symposium and the City University of New York Graduate Center. This public lecture will take place from 4:30-5:30pm in the the Music Seminar Room (Room 3491) at the Graduate Center at CUNY. For more information, see special events at the CUNY Music Department.

I will deliver the keynote address for the "Storytellers of the Americas" conference at SUNY, Buffalo. The conference will be held on February 26-27, 2010. Visit SUNY Buffalo's Department of American Studies for more information and the call for papers.

On Sunday March 14, 2010, I will give a talk entitled "Staring: How We Look" followed by a book signing at the Tucson Fesitval of Books. The lecture and signing will take place from 11:30am-1:00pm in the Chemistry Room 134 on the campus of The University of Arizona.

I am pleased to participate in a roundtable entitled "What can disability studies contribute to Cultural Studies?" with my colleagues Paul Longmore, Catherine Kudlick, Georgina Kleege, and Susan Schweick at the Cultural Studies Association Annual Meeting in Berekely, CA on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 4:00pm. Our session will be held in the ASUC - Student Center, Madrone East on the UC Berkeley campus.

On April 6, 2010, I will participate in an Identities Colluquium at the University of Ilinois at Chicago. Stay tuned for more details.

I will deliver the keynote address at the Salt Lake City Community College conference on Dis/Ability: Writing and Social Justice. The conference takes place on April 10, 2010. Click here to view the call for papers. Talk time and location to come.

I am excited to speak at the Feminist Approaches to Bioethics conference in Singapore in July 2010. The conference takes place from July 28-31.
